Rich Rodriguez will fail miserably at Michigan

Michigan will regret that they blew out Lloyd Carr. Unhappy being competitive every year but not winning the big prize, they will take a dive and won't return to the Rose Bowl for many years.

Mr. Tim, you knew I couldn't resist this one. Fortunately for Michigan, we will not be swirling at the bottom of the toilet like the Irish are right now. Here are just a few reasons:

1. Michigan doesn't have academic standards to block Rodriguez from recruiting his guys

2. If Rodriguez can make West Virgina a top 5 program with his recruiting and strategy, there is no doubt in my mind he will be able to do it with Michigan recruited guys.

3. Rodriguez brought Mike Barwis with him from West Virginia. He is the preeminent strength and conditioning coach in the country. Just watch him go to work:

Mighigan's prior S&C program was as effective as my treadmill and dumbbell workouts in my basement after the kids go to bed.

4. Michigan will give Rodriguez all the equipment and facilities support he asks for because they have too much at stake with this hire. Nothing is more important than football at Michigan. Nothing. Hence they are spending $300MM+ on Michigan Stadium renovations currently under way.

5. Kids are already signing up for the program, including 2 of the top dual threat QBs in the 2009 class. Just spend a few minutes on the greatest blog on earth to gain an appreciation for the latest developments:

6. Michigan's defense should be quite stout this year, bridging the gap until the offense has time to gel and get experienced.

I could go on and on, but I'll leave that for my rebuttal. Oh yea, what was the score of the Michigan vs. Notre Dame game this past year??

Tim, I REALLY want to vote for you on this one because I think Rodriguez is a schmuck, but Wolverine has come out swinging. Please come up with a suitable rebuttal so I can find it in me to vote for you.

With the talent Michigan can recruit by the virtue of the Winged Helmet alone would allow any coach to be competitve. What has frustated us, Michigan fan, is that we're playing football circa 1975 not 2008. The upgrade of Coach Hot Rod gets us into this century, innovative play and intensity will now be something the opposition will need to game plan against. Coaches alone can not destroy programs ... look at Ty Willingham and Charlie Weis ... no one is afraid of the Irish if the Academy's are laying the wood, but they still are relevant for some forsaken reason.
