As no more than a casual hockey fan, I don't get a chance to do many smackdowns on the NHL. But this Zednik accident is one of the most bizarre things I've seen in sports. I can't believe they didn't immediately end the game. The guy had his CAROTID ARTERY SLASHED for God's sake!! He was hemorrhaging blood on the ice. They should have immediately stopped and played the remaining 8 minutes at some future date. The dude easily could have died. What needs to happen to discontinue play in the NHL?!? Full head separation???

You can't even compare these things. I've never seen a football injury even close to this. A guy leaves the field, maybe even on a gurney, and maybe even paralyzed later. It's scary, everyone says a prayer, but the game goes on. It's not like an episode of ER. Zednik nearly had his head taken off. 30 more seconds on the ice and he probably would have bled out.

Trigginator, hockey is a man's sport, not one for the squeemish. If you really want to call yourself "Trigginator" you need to stop smelling daffodils and stop worrying about a few harmless gallons of blood on the ice. Does the NFL stop games when players are lying crippled on the field or have to be carried off on a body board? Remember Dennis Byrd?

Can't compare these things? That's ridiculous. Nothing is more chilling than watching a football player lying prone on the field, unable to move any of his extremities. Let's look at history. How many deaths or paralyzing injuries have you seen in football and how many have you seen in hockey? The fact of the matter is, a slice to the neck is fixable, assuming you act quickly, and there are plenty of doctors in the arena. The spinal injuries in football are much more disconcerting. Now stop creating more accounts and voting for yourself. Actually, this site needs voting transparency. I need to see who is voting against me so I can call them out too.
