Packers Management Doesn't Want Brett

The truth of the matter is that this current administration never wanted to keep Favre. They dangled this "open competition" thing out there and now they have the mother of all circuses on their hands. The mismanagement of having Favre as the hall of fame QB began with Ted Thompson choosing Rodgers with a first round draft pick rather than selecting a player to help win a ring with Brett. Now they have allowed the situation spiral into the worst situation for everyone.

If Aaron Rodgers is our guy, get rid of Brett so Aaron isn't looking over his shoulder. Does anyone really believe that Brett couldn't beat Aaron out in an open competition? If we don't want the best QB on the field for some reason, then let the legend go.

The only winners in this whole situation are the Vikings, Lions and Bears as the Packers as an organization have been weakened by this level of mismanagement. If we go with Rodgers, our team is being led by a weaker player and one that is in an impossible situation. It was going to be hard enough to replace Brett Favre now Rodgers gets the joy of being the one who pushed Favre out by the team's decisions.

As much as it pains me to say, it is time for the Packers to let Brett go. The don't want him and the team is worse off to have the situation linger any longer.

I disagree I think the players know that if Brett is there they have a chnace to win. I think management also thinks this that is why they don't want to release him or trade him. Yes there has been some mis-management on this issue but i guess they figure they can't turn back the clock and accept him back with open arms.

Obviously they don't want him -- they traded him.

I agree Kummy, the Packers should have welcomed him back and taken a serious run at the SuperBowl. Now they'll be fighting just to make the playoffs.

Anyone that is making the argument the Packers should have done something different must believe that one guy is bigger than team. While Brett Favre is arguably the most important athlete to any one organization, I believe in team above all individuals. He held the Packers captive for 3 seasons in a row. And even today, he doesn't sound completely committed. Granted, Ted Thompson will never win this in the court of public opinion but he did the right thing.
