Can't fuckin' believe all these closet Florida fans out there. But there's no way anyone comes to the defense of LA as a sports town. No NFL team? NO NFL TEAM!?!?! How does that happen? I know: because LA sucks!

OK, I need to punt on the NFL thing, but in other sports LA is sweet. My Lakers are the team to beat in the NBA -- not just this season but every season! They are one of the best teams in any sport, period. 14 NBA championships. A great legacy of players, including Magic, Kareem, Kobe, and my man Gasol. The highest winning percentage and the longest winning streak (33) of any NBA team. They are in a class by themselves, and make your Knicks look like a pre-pubescent junior high girls JV squad. No comparison.

As for MLB, your Yankees are suckin' it up out there, despite the biggest salaries in the league! I'm not personally a huge baseball fan, but at least the Dodgers are entertaining and competitive without all the over-paid pretty boys.

Finally, college sports in LA are awesome. The Bruins are the equivalent of the Lakers in terms of longevity of their NCAA dominance. They're always good. And USC is everything we need in terms of football.

So you can take your whiney, overpaid, shitty NY teams. I'll be watching the Lakers hoist another championship trophy this year.

Have to go with Smackalicious on this one. The Lakers are the only thing goin' in LA. And even with them, people barely care except for celebrity watching on the sidelines. To lose both your NFL franchises is embarrassing. If I was clinging to USC as my "football" experience, I'd have to take a long hard look in the mirror, Duncan.

I'd say that LA is probably the second worst sports town, so I have to disagree. I have lived in the Washington DC area for 6 years now and I am stunned by how poor the sports culture is. The Redskins fans are pretty strong, but after that it is miserable. I come to work on Mondays and no one knows what the hell happened in the sports world over the weekend. Plus the college sports scene is extra weak. In LA you have the Dodgers and Angels in baseball, both very solid franchises. The Lakers are the toast of the town. Throw in USC football, UCLA basketball and a dash of Long Beach St. volleyball and you have yourself a half decent sports scene.
