I don't know about the Celtics, but Lakers will win the championship

Is there really any doubt? The Spurts were lucky to get by the hornets last night. Gasol will give Duncan (no relation) all he can handle -- plus he hasn't been playing well anyway, almost fouled out of last night's game with like 18 points. And whoever comes out of the East is going to be a joke. The Celts can barely get their shoes tied, so I think the Pistons take the East. But it won't matter: Lakers will take either East team 4-0 in the finals. Won't even be close.

4-0 in the Finals? That's a big claim. Reminds me a bit of what most people thought of the Giants chances before this year's Super Bowl. Or else the 2006 World Series where analysts were saying the National League might as well be called Quadruple A, then then St Louis beats Detroit 4-1. Or Phi Slamma Jamma against a stacked Lousville team in the 1983 Final 4 that was supposed to be the "real" finals, but oops NC State wins over (H)Akeem and Clyde.

The Western Conference looked dominant all season, but a funny thing happens when it gets down to a single series, you gotta play the games, whoever makes it out of the East may be tough to beat. At the very least, there is no way the Celtics will be swept at home by the Lakers. Garnett won't let it happen.

All I remember the last time I was told the Lakers were going to sweep for the championship is the image of Ben Wallace "X ing" out the last win with a bottle of spray paint in the Palace and Billups being named the MVP of the playoffs. Damn that was sweet.

First, don't ever count the Spurs out. EVER. Even if they do beat the Spurs, they could very well lose. The Pistons can play with anybody if their heads are on straight and the Celtics went 25-5 against the West this year (included two complete whippings of the Lakers- granted, without Gasol, but they did have Bynum). The Celtics are no pushovers- Pierce and KG are really hard to stop.

Its awfully tough to eliminate the Spurs. We'll see.
