Horse racing is hard to classify as a sport -- I will admit that. But it's much more of a sport than a lot of other things that are considered "sports" -- to wit, NASCAR. How is sitting on my ass and steering a sport? I wish I could say I got a "workout" every day on my commute to work, but the only muscles that would agree are in my left hand and right foot. Horse racing at least requires physical exertion -- even if it's mostly by an animal. Plus it's pretty sweet to watch. And you can bet on it -- which is cool

Left Turn - Left Turn - Left Turn - Left Turn.....how exciting.

Triggy, just what are you doing with your left hand in the car? Or better yet, what are you doing with your right hand?

When I'm on the fence - arguments with work behind them always win...

NASCAR, even though it's my least favorite form of racing, does require a bit of physical strength. Going 180 miles an hour on those turns can produce 4-5 G's on your body for 15-20 seconds at a time. Multiply that by laps/turns and you're subjecting your body to one hell of a strain. It also gets amazingly hot in the car. Whereas open-wheel cars have their engines in the back, NASCAR drivers have the engines in the front and are ostensibly stuck inside a moving oven. You'd need to be in decent shape to endure those kinds of conditions.

"Arguments with work behind them always win..." I'm sorry, I thought this was a smack-talking site.
