Durant over Oden for #1 in NBA Draft

This is all about upside. Durant, with his lanky, athletic 6'9" frame and his deep range is ridiculous. He is consistently putting up 30 points in college games....something you don't see too often. His body will continue to mature a ton over the next two years. Still needs to work on the team game, but the NBA doesn't care much about the team game.

Oden on the other hand is also a beast. Only problem is that he reminds me a little bit too much of Dikembe Mutombo. Not sure he will ever refine his game enough to be dominant in the NBA. I also think he is at least 30 years old now, so his NBA career might only be 7 years long.

you kidding me. Dikembe was an uncoordinated player with no meat on him. have you seen oden??? he is a physical freak for his age (if he is in fact 19 yrs old). once he goes to the nba they will give him such an insane diet i would be shocked if he didnt put on another 20 lbs. then you have the next patrick ewing..not dikembe.

LeBlog, are you saying you'd take Oden #1? It's pretty easy to dominate College Basketball as a big man these days considering there are essentially none left.

Durant has the ability to be a 30 ppg scorer in the NBA. Very soon.

It's a tough call and I admit that if I were an NBA GM, it would be hard to pass up a specimen such as Oden, but I have to lean toward the Wolfman here.

It all depends on what your team needs. Having said that, I think both guys have significant weaknesses. Durant needs to gain some weight. Otherwise he will be limited to being a perimeter player. From what I've seen of Oden, he has no real offensive skills. However, he is athletic.

Since LeBlog is too busy to argue his side more...I'll help him with the following article from Whitlock...it's an interesting read.

Interesting comparison of Durant with Big Dog. I think it is a fair thing to say a this point, but I believe Durant will keep getting better.

Big Dog was a hell of a player in his day. That really isn't a big insult. He had a bit of bad attitude though.
