Let's face it - 90% of the people watching the tournament are doing so just because they have some brackets going somewhere and/or their friends are talking about it.

The only real College Hoops fans who pay attention for any longer than that short span in March are the ones who went to a competitive D1 hoops school and wish they were still back their with a funnel in their mouth.

If college hoops were so great, we'd all pay attention during the full season, like we do for the NFL.

The college game is far inferior to the pro game. The pro game would be even better if it weren't for the terrible officiating. The talent level difference is tremendous. Also, people talk about the effort level. I know some regular season NBA game leave something to be desired, but that is understandable with 82 games. In the playoffs, the effort is there.

Some watch sports for virtuosity. But the striving and the passion are equally compelling. And probably the majority watch because that's what the herd is doing. So what if people get a little nostaglic fo the misremembered halcyon days of college? Is it worse than watching to see how your kicker does in your fantasy league? And take away that wistful remembrance and you'll wipe out a lot more than college basketball. (Some of which might be welcome. Like the band Boston for starters- with all due respect to the late Brad Delp)

Does this all make College Hoops overrated? Sure, but no worse than any other sport.

Man - this site really needs to figure out a way to make the accepting a challenge more intuitive so we get less of the empty posts.

Hard to compare college basketball to the NFL. More games in college, more teams in college, and games aren't always played on set days of the week (Sunday, Monday and sometimes Thursday). I'll take my college hoops over a fairer comparison of the NBA. NBA has much better talent, but the officiating, the lack of "real" coaching affecting play and outcomes, and the lack of defense makes the college game better for me to watch.
