Avery Johnson didn't deserve the axe

Good guess that Cuban would get rid of Johnson. But the person Cuban should be firing is himself. The Kidd deal was foolish, and dienfranchised the coach. And the pressure he put on in the playoffs was detrimental. Johnson's a smart guy who deserves another season.

It's not a matter of whether he deserved to get waxed. Cuban needed to make a change, because beating his head against the wall for another couple years with what they have now wasn't going to get it done. I think at the core of it all is the fact that Avery didn't know how to use JKidd and they will need to make the most of Kidd next year in order to be a championship quality team. Perhaps another coach can inject some life into that team and make a run next year. I hated the Kidd deal to start with and never would have given up Diop and Harris for his decrepit ass. By the same token, I hated the Shaq deal. Never smart to change the style of a team that late in the year.
